Why Your Wounds Heal Slowly

Slow healing of cuts and wounds is not uncommon these days. Some people tend to notice that their wounds don't heal faster but slowly. Wounds and sores that take more than few weeks to heal might be infected and possibly need a medical attention. The slow healing may be a cause of an underlying illness or disease like diabetes.
The following reasons explain why your wounds heal slowly;

(1) Fungal and bacteria infections

When a wound doesn't heal within weeks of skin cut, It is highly possible that a fungal or bacterial infection is present. The tetanus infection is a bacteria infection that can cause lots of damage to the skin and the cells in it. Other infections like carbuncles and impetigo can cause lots of damage too if not properly treated.

(2) Zinc deficiency

Zinc is a metal. It is called an “essential trace element” because very small amounts of zinc are necessary for human health. Zinc helps to speed wound healing. if the body is low on zinc, then body wounds and sores will heal slowly.

(3) Diabetes

High levels of blood glucose caused by diabetes can, over time, affect the nerves (neuropathy) and lead to poor blood circulation, making it hard for blood - needed for skin repair - to reach areas of the body affected by sores or wounds.

Please don't hesitate to see your doctor if your wound takes longer than normal to heal. It could just be that fungi, bacteria or a high glucose level which i believe a very good medical doctor will see to by giving you prescribed medications.
